3 CTF - File Description  


Description:
Here we have a pack of 3 capture the flag modification's. The first mod is sof1 style ctf where your flag has to be at its spawn to enable a capture of the oppisitaions flag. The second is where you pick the oppisitions flag at your base and capture it at thier base. The last but not least is if your flag is taken when you kill the flag carrier if one of your team touch's the flag it will go back to your spawn area. Download this great mod cause its fun to play in all three gametypes and it makes a cool change from the default... Enjoy Rock

Readme File:
Server side 3 in 1 gametype.

Instructions:
Extract this file to either your current MOD folder ie OSP, adm or to base/mp
IE:
C:/Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helix/base/mp/3ctf.pk3
C:/Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helix/base/mp/3ctf.cfg


Credits:
Ravensoft for the releasing the software development kit and making the game.



Features:
gt_cctf is Classic Capture the flag (like unreal tournament)

and the features are people can return there flags if they are taken
for example if Dave is on blue team and his flag is taken.
he or any other team mate could kill the flag carrier and run over the flag
then there would be a message "Dave has returned the BLUE flag" and it would
go back to base.

also with classic capture the flag you cannot capture the flag IF both flags
are missing, you will have to return one or wait til it is returned.



gt_rctf is Reverse Capture the flag
the only feature of this is you take your flag to the opponent base


If you just want to play a normal sof2 ctf game however then set both below cvars to 0
to have one of them on set them to 1.

i put the file in my base/mp and it did not work so i put it in my sof2/osp still nothing then i put it in both and still nothing. sof2 shuts down and the concel comes up and says this in red

FS_FOpenFileRead: NULL 'filename' parameter p*****ed


i have no idea what this means can someone help

i WONDER why this gametype has not developed to be popular. It is server side and very good.

There are several problems;

One is the filename of the PK3: 3ctf.pk3 - this is placed very early in the search path of SoF2, and thus the gt_ctf.qvm in it is most likely overrided by the gt_ctf.qvm-files in other pk3's. - Consequently admins who don't know about these implications will most likely not be able to get it working at all.

If you place it in basemp or rename it to z___.pk3 then it will most likely work on SoF2 Double Helix servers. If you try to use it with a mod, such as OSP, RoCMod or Goldrush, then it will however, either not work at all, or override any gt_ctf.qvm that had been adapted to work with the mod (most mods comes with their own gametype files).

The objectives menu will display more or less missleading information to the players in all 3 of the new gametype combinations.

The Hud icons for the flags status aren't updated properly.

My conclusion: (Attempting) to make it serversided by overriding the gt_ctf.qvm-file probably seemed like a good idea at the time... wink

I realize this is 3 years late, but I've been bored lately and started looking for new game types... I might try to fix this by renaming the gametype, adding a gametype-file for the clients... But both cctf and rctf exists in other add-ons, so all there is to gain is the ability to combine rctf and cctf.
