Favohides - Improved Server Browser (2.0) - File Description  


Description:
Mark servers as unwanted to hide them from the server lists.
Add servers to favorites while connected (from within the game) or form the serverinfo-menu (this will work in other mods too!).
Use the mouse wheel i the menus.
See photos in the objectives-menu.
Connect to servers by copying their addresses from webpages or chats.

The initiative to this project came from a request on Gaming Forums for a filter for "botservers". The requested filter was not practical to make, but this will allow you to filter servers for what ever you fancy.

This adds a.o. a few features that I have wished for since I first started playing this game;

A - To be able to browse the internet serverlist for *new* servers, without having the servers that I already decided against reappear on the list all the time.

B - The option to add the server as a favorite while connected.

C - To use the mouse wheel in the menus.

D - To connect to an address copied from a chat or a web page.


Changes

This modifies the UI (user interface) code and a few of the menu files.
These features will work in the base game, RoCMod and any other mod that does not have its own version of the UI code or the modified menu files.

As usually I found and corrected a number of minor bugs along the way and optimized some of the code as well.

Objective Photos
If the photo of any gametype item cant be found for the relevant map & gametype, these alternatives will be tried to locate a substitution;
- The same photo, but for the basegametype.
- Any photo of the item for this map.
- Any generic photo of the item for this gametype.
- Any generic photo of the item for the basegametype.
- Any generic photo of the item at all.
This will make it much more likely that you will see photos in the objectives-menu.
The included levelshots for CTF are ripped (with permission) from GODh's Goldrush mod.

Server Browser
More room for server- and map-names.
1 more server is shown per page in the list.
The server list will be refreshed automatically when you first open the browser.
Irresponsive favorites will not be shown unless you chose to show empty servers.
The option to show full servers will also disable the filter for unwanted servers.
New filter to show only servers running a specific game mod.
New button to connect to an address copied to the systems clipboard.
New button to reconnect.
New button to mark servers as unwanted.

Modified from Qsens' "Enhanced Menu" featuring reconnect button and skipped confirmation box.
New button to connect to an address copied to the systems clipboard.

The buttons to add servers as favorites from other menus will also work in other mods.

To unmark an unwanted server, open the favorites list in the server browser, show full and empty servers, select server's IP address on the list (the port-nr is a bit obscured), then hit "Delete Favorite" ;)

Keep in mind that the max sum of favorites and unwanted servers is 128. If that does not suffice, consider lowering cl_maxping before you start marking servers.


Second Chances?

There is a chance that one of the unwanted servers will be unmarked when the server browser is loaded. The likelihood is proportional to how many servers are marked unwanted but it will at most happen once (per mod) in every 16 hours.

Servers can get out of all unwanted markings by changing IP-address or -port number. This will however also cause the server to lose all favorite markings...


Installation

Extract AV_Favohides_2.0.zip in your main SoF2 folder. This should place the 2 included pk3's in the proper locations;
[SoF2]/BASEMP/Favohides.pk3
[SoF2]/RoCMod/_Favohides.pk3
