Description:
Quote: This map has been inspired by America's Army Bridge Crossing.
It consists of a symmetrically large bridge with a 2000 foot drop. Flags at opposite ends.
Gametypes supported: TDM, CTF, CCTF, & INF
INF gametype has briefcase on extraction point, all you have to do
is cross the bridge and grab the case at end of road to score (while the other team defends). AA style.
This is a wicked map and well worth a download. The map supports TDM, CTF, CCTF, & INF and will host 2-34 players. Go grab it now and get it on those servers

Like every other map you download from here.
Extract the MIF_bridge.pk3 to your sof2/base folder.
To play, drop it down from the map list or open it from your console '~' 'MAP MIF_bridge'

Flashlight From: (IL) Joined: November 24th, 2003 Posts: 123 | Well this is a great copy of the Bridge map we all know from AAO, and you did a hell of a good job in it, i can see that it took you alot of time and you re-built even the slightest details from the original made map, however this map is way far from being a 9/10 map, its true, playing the map on Americas Army is fun and feels very realistic but when you play it on SoF2.. somthing is missing.. maybe its the sounds i dunno but its not the same. sof2 is like a quick action kind of a game while in aao everything moves slower, The avarage sof2 player wont go on slow steps, hide behinde a vehicle, wait for the target to apear then shoot it.. hell no! he'll run toward the other side of the bridge spreading AK shells all over while running (what apears to be his final run) toward the other side of the bridge, so basicly the map is'nt as fun as it's on AAO, so it was a bit disappointing.
There are some major bugs in the map, concidering its the Fixed version...
well probably the thing that bothered me the most is when you go up the tower, where snipers are usually located, you get very low FPS rate. i managed to get to 15 FPS... it was the thing that made me shut down sof2, come here and leave my comment.. impossible to play with 15 FPS it works very slow and makes it very difficault do shoot while in the tower, so i left the tower and like every other newbie i decided to check out the errors in the map, sadly i found some.
At the spawn point (cant remmember which one) when you try to go "none - roped - bunji" and slide down the hill you wont always die, now that is thrully a frustrating thing. you will most likely stay at the bottom of the map untill the round time is up, and people calling you a camper doesnt make you feel better.
I did find some terrain bugs as i was wondering around i got myself into a hole there and couldnt get out..
The vehicle models that are located on the bridge may look nice at the beggining but when you try to shoot a person through the space between the sit and the steering wheel the bullet will miss because of some invisible brush... that ruins it.
the corner of the models can be shot through too so basicly you can shoot through vehicles !
I give the map 7/10 because i can see how much effort you've put into the map and sof2 community sure needs someone like you as one of our mappers. |

Yes, the gameplay in AA is MUCH slower than sof2 so it takes from the realism AA brings. Yep, it is frustrating but every game has its own set of rules. So I opted for details.
I'm sorry that you are getting such low FPS. AAO is based on the unreal game engine and its optimised for it. SOF2 uses the Q3 engine which can be very taxing on your graphics as we all know (but worth it). I test my maps on a low end system (we can't all afford $400 gfx cards), and the lowest fps I got on this map was 40 and averaged about 65-90 which is not bad at all (some custom maps I dl I get about 10-20fps). Maybe you had something running in the background (spyware). I don't know your system specs so I can't comment on that.
My test system: 1.7 celeron, 512 megs ram, 60 gig hd, radeon 9000 64meg.
I am aware of the locations where you don't die in the terrain, I had an auto kill in those spots but removed them for some reason I don't remember now, Oh ya, I like going down there. I found that hole you were talking about and don't really think anyone will really fall in there unless they really really wanted to (type kill in console).
The models in the bridge have q3 limitations, but you shouldn't be able to shoot through them. You must be talking about the jeep, I didn't think anyone would camp behind it I have the clipping very close to the edges so it may seem that you are shooting through it. If an inch on the vehicle really matters then.......
I appreciate the time you took exploring the map, and I will see what I can do. Every map has bugs, even some of the raven one (little stuff) if you look for it.
