With less than a week to go before closure long time SOF2 player 50_BELLIES has stepped in and offered to take over the site. His offer was accepted and the site is now in the process of being transferred over.

| | Broken Downloads UPDATED Again - Network News

Files are returning a 404 page not found error.
The FileFront tech team are working on this as we speak and hopefully things will be fixed very soon.
We apologies for any problems you may have using the sites during this time. This issue is also affecting staff adding files so if you have a file waiting then please be patient.

We have corrected this but unfortunately we could not recover the links to restore them. As a result all of the links have been deleted to protect the people who sent the original links into us.
While this could be seen to be a set back we are taking the view that although this has caused all the staff some extra work it is still a good time for a fresh start as some of the links were probably dead ones.
Some site managers have already started restoring known links on there sites
We would like you to either resubmit any link you had on your chosen site and submit new ones.
You can find the link in the left menu under "The Community"

It gives a great opportunity to get know each other a little better and maybe even get together in game.
As you have probably noticed in the Left menu on most (soon to be all) sites the new Ventrilo section. You can join the server by having Ventrilo installed and user name set. Then simply click the link in the left menu and join the channel that want.
If you wist to set it up manually then here are the server details

Port: 4220 <<< important as it is not the default port.

Have you ever been looking over your favourite game site and thought that you could really help out ?
If the answer is yes then we would like to hear from you. We are now recruiting staff for all sites and hopefully some new ones.
Some of our sites are fully staffed at the moment but don't let that stop you from applying to join our very friendly team here.
If your preferred site is fully staffed you will still be contacted to see if you could help out on a different site. We will still pass your details on to the site manager for that site just incase they need a extra pair of hands.
So what do we need from you to join us. Well not much really to start with.
First you must be 16 or over and have regular Internet access.
You must have good understanding of English (this is for news items and so on)
You must own the game for the site/s you are applying for, with the ability to run custom content (for testing submitted files)
If your application is accepted then you will also be required to register on our forums and visit the staff section at least once a week as updates and requests are posted there.
To apply simply copy the below template into a email and send it of to network@filefront.com
Make sure you fill out the games section including the ones that we do not have sites for at the moment.

hi to all who read this ,and big thanks to goody for giving us this oppourtunity to tell you all about our clan.
Our clan was born out off an old sof2 clan , who's members wanted to play more for fun rather than take things seriously.
Our clan was started by mr blue and icp to name just a couple and is around 7 years old.
Mr Blue was leader for around 3 years (but left due to work / family commitments) then followed by seriousT for around the same amount of time ( left to set up a cod4 clan ) thats when our present leader stepped up.
Barbwire (our best leader so far) has now been leader for a year and truthfully -[FC]- only survives thanks to her taking on the role of leader , and the great support we receive from our members and also other clans especially *E-E*NoMercy a big thanks to him for all his help in teaching us about servers.
we also thank the guys from the old TdS ,who joined us after their clan closed they are great -[FC]-s these days and as a mark of respect to their old leader, they still all keep their old clan colours , with the full blessing from us other members and leaders.
Our aim as a sof2 clan is more of a emphisis on being a fun clan
we play on roc-mod 2.1c @ our servers
we have both a sniper only and an all weapons servers (which both run stock and custom maps and are available in our downloads section ) for our members and visitors that like those type games though will add that these days we tend to mostly snipe.
All members get admin after a while of being a member ( length depends on that members attitude / behaviour), and it is not relied on members for the finance of the servers , donations are purely voulantry with sergeS paying for the servers every month at around 50pence a day each server.
we run pb at very high settings to stop any known cheats that may come to visit so if you wanna visit please ensure you have pb switched on and have the latest updates for it.
We are open to invites for scrims with other clans of a simlar nature , ie mature and up for a fun match come win lose or draw
we also enjoy a close friendship with several other clans *E-E* UTD and <<UK>> and are friends with the peeps over @ sofplayers ( aka garbage clan ) and are also honored to be on close friendly terms with *E-E*Nomercy and <<UK>>slavo both of whom are great mappers in the game of sof2
and we often get a first taste at new maps developed by the above and indeed had a map made with our input for all the members (that survived after cod4 came along) , by *E-E*NoMercy and what a map it is lol just like -[FC]- full off suprises lolol.
Over the years there's been lots of members come and go , but we still get some old faces popping in for a fun game now n then and have around 15 regular clan members to both forum and servers with god knows how many not signed up to forum lol.
Our sound pack has some really nice binds contained within and is used by some other clans
( be WARNED!! there are some adult binds in there )
We try to keep bad language/ adult binds out off the servers as much as possible before the uk watershed time 9pm , as last thing anyone wants is rude / adult binds or even type , when our kids are around lol,
ABUSE of other players is not allowed on our servers wherever it be type or in hurtful binds ( one warning only , as rudeness achives nothing )
CHEATS are not allowed and will only result in a ban ( if they get around pb )
we would like to nominate -[FC]-roc-sounds as 1st featured file ( can you place on soffiles plz )
the second being -[FC]- funzone made by *E-E* NoMercy ( a great map for most gametypes )
the third being TDS in holland both cause its a nice map and out of respect for one of the funniest guys we met playing this game we all love ( TDS Batman , much remembered by us @ fc )
and out of respect to all our dutch members
( kinda ironic as it was a dutch guy that gave life to -[FC]- ) and our webmaster -[FC]-CT is also dutch and the majority of our members )
we do also have members from uk, belgium, norway, usa and canada and in the past had members from all over the globe ( when sof was at its height ) ,and dare say that some will still show up and want a fun game from time to time , as they do lol always saying "i forgot how much fun this is lol "
we stick with sof ,as we think its the best fps out there! a lot of us wander off playing the newer games , but always seem to return to good old sof
when it comes to online fps games sof is second to none
it has the best community and best playability, best of all is you dont need the latest hardware to run it
and it can be run on the most basic of home pc's , takes up very little HD space ( between 2 to 4 gb depending on how many maps etc you collect lol )
as long as we have players and visitors in our servers we shall remain in the sof2 world
and hope that anyone who fancies a fun game of sof 2 will pop in and give our servers a try
also dont be shy to sign up to our forum

To Celebrate the Official opening of team-energi.com we are hosting a tournament starting next week, Monday June 22nd. This will take place throughout the week finishing on the Sunday 29th June. All players are welcome to join for the chance to "Win A Game" of their choice (choice limited see prize list).
The tournament is being played as 4 separate Deathmatch Qualification Rounds on our public OSP 1.0h server. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be Qualifier Rounds, ie. 12 players each day, top 3 players go on to the Sunday for the Final 12 Showdown. For server settings please see below.
The server will be streaming to anti-cheat sites and also running anti-cheat software, anyone found to be cheating will be automatically disqualified from the tournament.
Ask 3urn@team-energi on msn to be added to the timetable for Qualificatiion Round.

I've got an Idea, and this will probably require a big letter up the chain maybe, but I was thinking what if we have a votw (video of the week). We just make a cool videos of good gameplay or funny moments in Sof2.
Over on the JK3 files they do a comic as the potd occasionally and call it JK Files Uncut. And it's got the admin's custom models for the game making jokes or killing stuff or whatever. Actually it's kind of humorous.
Maybe an SoF themed comic would be good (if you guys can write some stuff that's actually funny).
By the way. I love your idea computernerd. That should be a site-wide update.
I have thought about that a few times too.
Videos would allow us to show a lot more action and effects than just the stills. But it also takes a great deal more effort to make a video. I'm sure even fewer of the players even know how to start the recording of a demo. So new VotW would probably be even rarer than new PotD.
Then there is the question of format... It is tempting to keep it in the native demo format, because the DL size will be minimal and it will be easier to contribute. Compatibility problems will then be between different versions of the game(s) in stead of different codecs however, and what is actually shown will depend on what mods are installed on the client playing the demo.
Maybe we could experiment a bit by exchanging videos on the GF forum...
Well an alternative to that would be too make it where whenever you upload a file you add a video showing what it looks like before you download.
Well so far I am liking what I am seeing here. I have listened to you guys and even asked for what you want to see and in most cases I have made it happen here for you.
The videos will be a bit tricky and probably very few will be sent in and as our system does not have features to submit them like a picture I do see this as a non starter.
However it is a simple thing to embed a external video from say you tube into a description for a file and it is there that your video idea would excel imho.
It is probably a little late in the day for such a feature to have a major impact here but it is something that if available for a file I am willing to do.
Well just let the site go on like this. Don't see anything wrong with it, except off the ideas off the videos. That would sound good. But leave the site for what it is. Didn't know that there was something wrong with soffiles...
*edit*: ESPECIALLY DON'T CLOSE THE SITE! I still love those mappacks and those maps and so on and I would never want to download it somewhere else. Soffiles is just thrustable for every soffer.

I am pleased to announce a few promotions for the network.
Mr.Funsocks, the lovable, huggable Network Administrator has been promoted to Asst. Network Manager and will become my right hand dealing with issues that arise on FileFront's game sites.
Goody10 of soldier of fortune files has been promoted to Network Administrator.
FFxStalkerx of stalker files has been promoted to Network Administrator.
Guyver3212 of WoWFiles has been promoted to Network Administrator.
The above three have shown fierce determination in ensuring that the network thrives and pushes forward. When it came to the need to add some fresh faces to fill in those ranks, it certainly wasn't easy to sift through all of the staff who easily deserve such recognition of their hard work, but these three came out on top and I'm sure you will see great things happen with them lurking about.

However that is not a true reflection of the best files as time is a factor and personal preference also has to be considered.
So here is the plan, We are asking you to tell us what your top 5 files of all time are. It does not matter what the file is and it does not even need to be on soffiles.
After 1 month all the suggestions will compiled into a big poll and that will be run for a week and the top 10 will be announced and the top 3 will receive full write ups on soffiles and the top ten will be featured permanently in the left hand menu.
Remeber these can be any SoF 2 related files and again they do not even need to be on Soffiles to qualify so mods like Goldrush can still be suggested.
So what is your top 5 files. What is you can't do without and what is it that makes you go WoW every time you use it.

The European * Elites have seen the first light in the sof2 world in 2002. In the beginning the clan had 3 players.
The clanname and tag was born after a long time of searching to see if the name already existed or not.
Then, we played every day on the clan leaders home server on sof2 V1.00 this was on a fun base only.
The main reason to form our own clan at that time was we mainly played sniping mode and most of the other servers had all weapons available.
Because we were playing sniping mode all the time ,at some points more then 10 h / day. Evolved in to a snipersclan. Also the members skills became above average due the many hours of playing and in the same gamemode.
We stayed a long time with only 3 members till the day the server started to run the map tb_high wire 2. From that day the applications to join the clan were huge.
There was not a day someone didn’t ask to join us, and the server was fully occupied every day.
From time to time we played some minor scrims on the V1 version.
Because the clan leader had upload limits in those day's it was not possible to run the server from his home anymore. So we started to rent a server.
This server is still running on the V 1.00 version.
This is fully payed by the clan leader , we dont ask anything from our members but donations are welcome. Members are free to play whenever they can
our motto is play for fun , and private life has priority.
At the end of 2005 the clan took the decision to start a server on gold aswell, and this was a great decision.
Also because of the many cheats that infected the game, the gold version was also a better option to play on. Because this clan in 100% against any kind
of cheating , even hash commands like 3RD person view.
We put up in our clan forum how to upgrade the V1 game to gold so we all have both versions.
After a little time on the gold version we started to play some great sniping scrims with clans like TDS , << UK >> and some other sniping clans.
We made a lot of new friends there as well and we still make some new friends today. Personally I think the gold version has more mature players on it.
Because the clan members ages varies from 18 to +55 its more our thing as well to play against more mature players.
From playing these scrims we got involved in playing more close combat gametypes aswell.
So from this moment the clan is no longer only a sniperclan but an all round clan. Our main beloved game is sniping and will always be this way.
At present the European * Elites has 36 members from all over Europe playing on v1.00 and gold, with around 8 who play on an almost daily basis( gold ).
some of the new friends we made on the gold version were making maps for the game. So the clan leader Nomercy got the urge to try making some maps for the game and started mapping with the help from these friends. To this day the clan have produced 6 maps, and is working on one at this moment.
The clan also try's to expand to newer games , but due to the different gameplay on these games its hard to adjust to them and eventually return to the old favorite, the good old sof2 game.
This year, starting in March we entered the best clanaward competition organized by the UTD clan and we are going to the next round, next week.
When this competition is over, we the -E*E- will start a new competition up, mainly 1 Vs 1 , and 2 Vs 2 in all game types and several maps.
Because all those who entered the soffiles 1 Vs 1 last year liked this way of playing so much, we decided to do this style of competition with the cooperation of several clans. More info will be posted on soffiles soon.
These day's we play mostly on our gold server every day from 7 pm till late. But we are stay active on V 1.00 as well.
So if you want to have a good blast or want to unstress from a hard day at work , you’re welcome to come play with us.

The active clan list was a idea put forward by a member here but I have decided to expand on this and go a step further.
The active clan list is still going up and will be up by the weekend. However every 2 weeks a clan on that list will be invited to do a write up about there clan for the news section and will also be invited to pick the 3 featured files for the week there news item goes live.
The news items will be placed into a archive the same as the potm archive in the left hand menu so they will be easy to find and will also be linked to in the active clan list.
If you have a developer in your clan that has work on here you will also be invited to link to there profile so people can take full advantage of this to really promote there clan and there work.
i will be contacting the first clan leader soon so if you want your clan involved start emailing me the details for the active clan list so I can add you to the list.

Kin is well know for his single player mods but has made some weapons skins.
His first file was submitted mid 2007 and since then he has not looked back. Kin mod is the most downloaded sp mod on soffiles and probably the internet for SoF 2.
Kin himslef is a nice guy to speak toand always keen to learn more. This makes him one to watch in the future.
