  Before You Send Us your Files - Site News

Before you send us your maps,mods,scripts and skins please take time to read the following guidelines.

Help us to help you,there are still a large number of files being submitted in the incorrect format, no screen shots enclosed, no readme files, this is so important, its your way of selling your creation, giving the community instructions on how to get your file working, telling people a bit about yourself, and of course enabling a point of contact via your e-mail address, people may want you to make them something.


  • Please send your files in zip format.
  • Always include screen shots place these in the zip file don’t send them separate.
  • Please attach up to date screen shots 2/3 is plenty to give people the idea, if you are sending weapon skins include screenshots for all of them.
  • Please make sure the screen shots are in the jpeg format.
  • Always put a title to your submitted file so we know what it is.
  • If you have more than one file to send put them all together and send them in one zip file.
  • Always include a ReadMe file and keep the contents clear and informative with credits and maybe how to install your map, skin, mod.
  • Good installation instructions will also result in a higher rating! Also try to include a description of the file.
  • Also in the read me add your website or clan site (if any).
  • Add your nickname or sof2 name or clan tag.
  • Add your e-mail address this will enable us to register you on Soffiles.
  • Always make sure the files you send are in the correct format (pk3) etc.
  • Please don’t send duplicated files or files that don’t work try them first please.
  • When sending screen shots please remove any bad language from the picture.
  • Remember this site is viewed with the age range from 10-100.
  • When you send your "ZIPFILES" please name them using lowercase, and use numbers and text only.
  • If you follow all the above it will allow us to post your files much faster.

    Posts: 438     		This is an "age-old" problem for us as site staff. People need to realize that without the things noted in this news post, that it takes us that much more time to get your files up.

    A big one that I have noticed is screenshots and file descriptions.

    1. Screenshots - People almost always WILL NOT download a file if they cannot see what they are downloading. I personallywill not upload a file, especially a weapon skin/player skin/etc.. without a screenshot attached to the file.

    That takes too much time for you to install the mod/skin/etc...then go in and atttempt to take a screenshot....key word here is: Time Consuming for the file uploader.

    2. File descriptions - We do not expect a 15 page description, but it's YOUR file, don't leave it to us to describe your file for you. We may not describe it how you like it.

    So take a couple extra minutes before you send your files in and make sure that it has everything that we ask for. Rock

    ive had a few annoying ones were ive had to make a readme or get my own screenshots

    so hopefully this will help ni big grin
